Have
you got any live gig recordings from mansun
days you would be willing to put online for
free?
Why not if i can dig em out, you can have em,
but I'll have to look first. I never really
collected anything to do with Mansun, I was
only the singer. |
|
Do you have
any Grind recordings or was Steve left with
the masters? Ohh nice leadbreak in the epic
clip by the way
I've got everything I've ever done since I
was 10 years old in my tape store that I
call 'pergotry' (however you spell it). I
was always a better musician than I let on
in Mansun, in the 'britpop' days you had to
be rubbish at playing, but i can string a
solo together, in fact wide open space only
has me playing on it, it wasn't really a
band track, that was one of my solo efforts.
Can You
or Chad teach me to play guitar pls ;)
Not good enough to teach anyone.
Have you
considered mixing your new material in
surround sound, many of the instrumental
layers of the previous albums would really
come alive with a surround mix
Yeah i agree,
but my new stuff is simpler and more raw so
stereo will do just fine for now!

You can even post surround
mixes online, be a good way to get peoples
attention.
Yep, I may just do that!! |

Oooh that reminds me.......Some time ago there
was talk of a live web cast.........of an
acoustic set I think. Is that something you
would consider? Please?
Later this year, I'll
do something on the web, if you tell all you
friends and enough people were willing to
watch I'd deffo do it, but you'd have to get
enough interest drummed up to get me out of
hibernation.
hey Paul
before I ask anything I would like to say
that you are one of my favourite musicians
ever and that six is probably my fav. album
of all time.
Thank you!
that aside,
1) what new
bands do you think are worth listening to if
any, you can even tell us which ones you may
have influenced
I highly doubt any band is influenced by
Mansun, and even if they were they'd lie
about it and say they were influenced by
Captain Beefheart, that's the nature of the
biz kids!
2) if you
tour, any chance my band could support or
something. You may think I'm kidding but I'm
serious, check out www.myspace.com/zephoria
and email me with any feedback eyc at
roryzephory@hotmail.com Cheers.
Ill check you out!!
Hi Paul Well
this is a question I've already asked but
anyway, when listening to your songs (like
Face In The Crowd) sometimes I imagine they
could feature in a film or a TV series (I
know Skin Up Pin Up, Six did) so I wonder if
you've ever considered writing film music.
And if, what genre would be your favourite
one? Would you like to write music for a
blockbuster or a low budget film? Thanx a
lot.
-Misha-
I'd like to write an orchestral score in the
future but not yet, I'm still a rock n
roller at heart! I wouldn't care what type
of film it was, as long as i liked it,
preferably something like 'Being John
Malcovich' |

Hello
Paul What type of 'sound' is your solo
material going to be? Are there any recent
bands that have influenced your musical
style or production?
I don't take influence from anything in the
charts, but i listen to production of
records and what's currently going on, coz
producing is my hobby on the side. The sound
of my stuff will be rock or electronic, i've
got both versions of most songs, but ill
decide on a direction at the last minute
I
have a request. Paul please make it really
big and play in the US. Illinois to be
exact! I'd never be able to go see you live
in the UK
I'm to lazy, sorry.
|
|
Do you feel
like the time away from the pressure of
writing for a band has helped you produce
songs you are more happy with?
I'll only do stuff i'm 100% happy with now,
no compromise for me anymore.
|
|
Will the joint
project be using the parrot sessions that
Chad and you did?
I
don't have the parrot session, Chad has
them, as for working together jointly, he's
been helping me out on a few backing tracks
on my own project.
when will we be able to hear the demo's you did
with corporation blend?
What demos? I never did any with Corporation
Blend

After Mansun
split I expected you to only do
writing/producing for others, for some
reason I thought you'd be more comfortable
only dealing with the 'behind the scenes'
creative processes. I thought you could have
(and already are with Skin) do that with a
lot of success. So what drives you to start
a solo career? And what do you like to
drink?
I will do writing and producing for other
artists, but they are few and far between.
I've wanted to make an album since the band
ended, the fact that its a solo album as
such is irrelevant, its just a way of
getting my songs out there into the ether,
I'll happily give it away on the net for
free if nobodies interested, i'm doing it
for me, an element of vanity i suppose if i
search deep into my soul, but really just to
keep trying to prove myself as a songwriter
as that's what i love.

Thanks very much to Paul for answering the
